The United States is a major contributor to global warming and responsible for more greenhouse gas pollution than all of Africa, Central and South America, the Middle East, Japan, India and Australia combined. Only China, which just recently surpassed the United States, is a larger contributor.  Greenhouse gas emissions come mostly from energy use and are driven largely by economic growth and fuel for electricity generation and transportation.
